Editor:we the people of Abakpa in Kaduna North Local Government Area of the Kaduna State feel obliged to inform you of our predicaments. First, it is on record that Ahmadu Doka road and Sadiq Mamman Lagos road in Abakpa have been neglected for years. It was only during the tenure of the erstwhile Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government Sadiq Mamman Lagos that the road was linked to Unguwan Shanu Area.

However, for many years, the road under question has had the added misfortune of not only being over-plied but has also become the packing space for heavy trucks. This is a fact which a single visit can ascertain. This extends down to the Government Collage Kaduna.

As a matter of fact, the presence of these trucks is wrecking havoc on the road. The road is now virtually unmotorable as a result of multiple potholes on it. They have also damaged drainages.

Also, their congestion of the site has is making the place a hideout for criminals, especially at night. Battery repairers have also taken over the opposite side with the attendant health hazard posed by their activities.

As a result of this, the neiboughring community is exposed to danger. Apart from serving as breeding ground for mosquitoes, the surrounding environment also faces serious threat of degradation.

Against this background, the Nigerian Railway Corporation, whose ground the vehicles have turned into permanent workshop site, should be reclaimed; the fertilizer factory under whose aegis the trucks exist must be relocated to their reserved space. Until this is done, no lasting rehabilitation can be executed by the government, corporate agencies or individuals.

We therefore call on the governor to take a proactive action and save the affected community from further stress. We the people of Abakpa Community look up to you for your intervention.
