News

Prominent Yoruba monarch and traditional ruler of Ibadan Land, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1, is dead.

Though family members and chiefs have declined making any comments on the death, Oba Odulana reportedly died after losing consciousness. His body has been deposited in the morgue for proper rites and eventual announcement.

Sources within the palace confirmed that the Oba was dead as against the denial by his Personal Assistant, Chief Isiaka Akinpelu, who told journalists that the Oba still some food.

His death came barely a week after his quarrel with the state Governor Abiola Ajimobi, over the elevation nine high chiefs in the state.

Odulana became the 39th Olubadan of Ibadan land in 2007.

The title was elevated from Baale Ibadan to Olubadan in 1930 and Odulana was the 17th Olubadan since then.
