The Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu, Enugu State has ruled that Chief Victor Umeh is the authentic National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), dumping a February 8 judgment of the Enugu State High Court delivered by Chief Judge of the state, Justice Innocent Umezulike.

Umezulike’s judgement had also removed all members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, saying their tenure expired in 2010.

Delivering the lead judgment on Monday, Justice Tom Yakubu granted all the four reliefs that Umeh sought and resolved all the issues set out for determination in his favour. Justices Paul Galinje and Modupe Kwasami were in agreement with the judgement.

Once the judgement was issued, Umeh’s supporters chanted victory songs right from the court premises and danced to the streets. Even some supposed loyalists of factional chairman of APGA, Maxi Okwu, dumped Okwu and removed his customised T-shirts that they were donning, instead aligning with the newly declared national chairman.
